Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, March 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. Long lines for the long-board glide.
It’s nice and clean with a north-west wind at 10 knots.
Look for north-west winds at 15 to 20 this afternoon as a cold front moves off-shore. Surf should get blown down this afternoon on the low tide.
We have a high tide at 10 a.m., and a low tide just after 4 p.m. today.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 ft at 5 seconds in a short-period south-west wind swell.
Get on it this morning while conditions are clean, as the surf should be shedding size this afternoon with stronger offshore winds in the forecast. Look for smaller surf to start you workweek. We see another storm system approaching our waters for mid-week, and with it we will see south/south-west winds and another south wind swell fill in for Wednesday into Thursday. This cleans up and drops for Friday after a cold front passage.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will move offshore this morning followed by high pressure for the next few days. A storm system will then impact the area mid week before high pressure likely returns by the end of the week.
It’s currently56* with bright sun-shine this morning. Look for a high of 67* and sun.
Water Temperature is around 64*.
Sunrise is at 7:26 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:31 p.m.
