Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 29 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high in a high-angled, short-period north-east wind wave.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-choppy. There is a slight drift down the beach.
Look for north-east winds to continue north-east this morning at 15 knots, going east this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots. We see a choppy surf-zone today.
We are coming off a high tide just before sun-rise. Low tide will be at 12:38 p.m. High tide will be at 6:50 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.9 feet at 5 seconds in a short-period, north/north-east wind wave. This small wind-swell is passing by our beaches.
Unfortunately, there is north-east wind swell in the water today, most of which is passing by our beaches. It looks like we will begin to see another south swell starting late on Wednesday as a warm front lifts north or our waters. A cold front passes overnight on Thursday, and we see strong south winds and big south wind swell in the head high range ahead of this front for day-time, Thursday. Friday sees a gradual clean-up as winds come off-shore.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail today. A warm front will lift north across the area Wednesday, followed by the passage of a cold front Thursday into Friday, before stalling south of the region through the weekend. High pressure will then prevail early next week.”
It’s currently 51* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 59* with sunshine. Nice day for a walk on the beach.
Water Temperature is around 64*.
Sunrise is at 7:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:37 p.m.
