clean

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh high
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: gnats

Good morning, this is Scott with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast  Saturday, April 16 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high. The surf zone is clean.

Winds are north/north-east at 3 knots. Today is a perfect longboard day, but a big fish or fun shape should be okay as well.

Look for winds to stay about the same until late afternoon when winds switch south.

We are coming off a high tide and low tide will be at 2:20 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:43 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 8 seconds in a fast period east/north/east wind-swell

The washout is glassy and has nice shape to the sets. It appears a little bit too soft for great surf, but its shaping up to be a fun log day. Early morning (now) is the best time to go as the low tide will be draining out the swell. Keep an eye on Monday with that being the next big day on the radar.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will gradually approach the area through Sunday, with a surface low pressure system passing through the region Sunday night into Monday. High pressure will build into the area early next week and persist through the work week.”

It’s currently 65* and cloudy. Look for a high of 75* with possible showers this afternoon.

Water Temperature is around 68*.

Sunrise is at 6:50 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:50 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
