Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 15 at 8:30 a.m.
We have a ton of brand new G. Wilson boards that just arrived in the shop. Longboards, mid-lengths fish and some shortboards. Come see what’s new and get ready for summer surf.
Waves at The Washout this morning are waist-to-stomach high with a chest high set. Maybe a little bigger. It looks super fun this morning. This little swell finally arrived, so shake off that hangover and get out here.
Winds are west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean. It’s a little soft at the morning’s high tide, but it looks fun.
Look for winds to come south at 10 knots with a gust to 15 today. We see a semi-choppy surf zone later today.
We are coming off a high tide. Low tide will be at 1:44 p.m. High tide will be at 8:15 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 9 seconds in an south-easterly swell. So there is plenty of swell at the buoy with a good direction.
We see fun surf today, but it’ll likely get choppier this afternoon as winds come south at 10 to 15 knots. This lazy south-swell should continue into the first part of the work week, going more south-west for Tuesday and into mid-week in what looks to be a typical summer weather pattern.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A weak cold front will push offshore late Monday night. High pressure will gradually build into the region through the end of the week.”
It’s 72* with sun this morning. Look for partly cloudy skies today and a high of 80*. There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm this afternoon.
Water Temperature is still around 73*.
Sunrise is at 6:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:12 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
