Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 9 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are knee high in a short period south-west wind swell going into a low tide. There will likely be a waist set as the tide comes in. But the wind is predicted to go side-on-shore from the south-west.
Winds are west/southwest at 9 knots, and surf zone is semi-clean, early. It’s closing out at the lower tide.
We are expecting winds to increase from the south-west around 15 knots
Low tide is at 10:02 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:40 p.m. The next low tide is at 11:05 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 5.3 seconds in a short period south-west wind wave.
Look for choppy, drifty surf to average thigh-high with a bigger set today, with south-west winds keeping things bumpy, drifty and choppy. Winds are forecasted to stay steady out of the southwest through the weekend and then possibly go west by Sunday morning. Not a lot of ground swell, so wind swell quickly fades on the clean-up Sunday. Surf looks small to start the next work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will approach the area through tonight before stalling out over or near the area through early next week. High pressure should then return toward mid week until another cold front likely impacts the region later next week.”
It’s 81* and cloudy this morning. We see a high of 86* with a chance for showers and thunderstorms today.
Water Temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
