Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 15 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set. It’s very clean, and the longboarders are catching some fun rides.

Winds are north-west at 8 knots, early. Surf zone is very clean.

We are expecting winds to increase south at 10 by mid-afternoon. We should see some bump in the surf-zone later today.

We saw a high tide at 9:48 a.m., and a low tide at 3:50 pm. The next high tide is at 10:29 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 5 seconds in a short period south/south-east wind swell

We’re looking at small south wind swell today in the thigh range. It’s about the at the same low quality, short-period south wind swell we normally see this time of year. This trend continues into the weekend. We could see a more significant swell Sunday into early next week as low pressure from the GOMEX passes near our marine area and high-pressure sets up well off the Mid-Atlantic states, pushing in some trade wind swell. Get your chores done.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Wet and unsettled weather will continue through the weekend into the majority of next week.”

It’s 76* and cloudy this morning. Expect a chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm today with a high of 84*.

Water Temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:28 p.m.
