Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, July 18 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout are waist to-chest high.

Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is overall pretty clean with the side-shore wind.

We are expecting winds to increase south-west at 10 to 15 by mid-afternoon. We should see some chop in the surf zone later today, but waves will likely stay fun all day.

Tide is coming in. High tide will be at 12:38 pm. The next low tide will be at 6:39 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.6 feet at an average of 7 seconds in a shorter period south/south-east wind swell and a south-east medium period swell.

Surf looks fun this morning, and we should see some waves all day. Things get choppy this afternoon as winds come south-west at 15 knots.  High pressure sets up well off the Mid-Atlantic states today, pushing in some trade wind swell today and Tuesday, with today seeing the biggest surf. The south-west winds will start getting on in Monday afternoon into Tuesday, but there will be surf though mid-week. Low quality, short period south-west wind swell increasing late week, but it will likely still be rideable.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A trough will linger near the area for much of this week. High pressure will build in next weekend.”

It’s 80* with cloudy skies and showers at the beach this morning.  Look for some clearing later this morning. We’ll have a high of 85* today with a chance of showers again today.

Water Temperature is around 84*.
