SUNDAY AUG 21

Storm off shore causing a slight chop.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: FLAT
Traffic: Not bad.
Parking: Some to be had.
Dangers: Lightning this morning. And Jellyfish

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 20th at 8:30 a.m.

We just received a shipment of Catch Surf Logs in 6’, 7’, 8’ and 9’. Come snag one before they are all gone again.

Waves at undisclosed location aka “Secret Spot” are flat today.  Even smaller than yesterday.

Winds are light from the northwest. Surf-zone is getting some swinging breezes from the storm that is over us right now just off the coast.

Look for winds to go south at 5 to 10 this afternoon, and surf zone will be mainly semi-clean today between frequent showers and thunderstorms.

Low tide is at 9:50 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:26p.m. The next low tide is at 10:54 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 feet at 7.7 seconds in a small east/north-east short period swell. Nothing showing at the beach.

Not much swell at the buoy, and waves are flat this morning. It’s looking pretty small through the weekend, with no real swell makers in our vicinity, and a stalled frontal boundary lingering in in our marine area. We could see a slight uptick in sell early in the work week. I’d emphasize “slight.” Some charts are showing an increase in wave size about 10 days out, and there should be some hurricanes to track by late next week. Keep your eye on it.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Several disturbances will linger across our region through next week.”

Water Temperature is around 83*.

It’s 79* with thunderstorms this morning. We see a high of 83* today with passing clouds and some on-and-off rain/thunderstorms in the area all day.

Sunrise is at 6:46 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:59 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
