Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, Aug 28th at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high and choppy.  Tide is high and waves are breaking mostly on the inside. Wind is already on it and it is semi-choppy.

Winds are east/south-east at 11 knots. We see winds pushing out of the south-east today around 5-10 knots, and this should keep the surf zone bumpy.

We have a high tide at 9:52 a.m. Low tide is at 3:53 p.m., and high tide is at 10:00 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.0 feet at 7.7 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell. There is a little something in the water but the wind has it junked up.

Today’s surf is choppy running around thigh high. Not too much for expectations this week, possibly a little wave in the weekend. We do have a promising outlook for middle of next week. Looks like we should see a tropical depression form in the next two-three days and possibly named by the weekend. Forecast currently show the storm maintaining tropical depression status until just off the Leeward Islands or just a little North of. At that point we could have Tropical Storm Danielle. Current wind predictions keep it at just under Cat 1 once off the coast of the Carolinas. Models show our area seeing an uptick in swell around midday Monday 9/5 into Wednesday 9/7.  This is a slow moving storm so we are keeping fingers crossed.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A trough of low pressure will linger over or near the area through at least the middle of the week. A cold front will likely move through late in the week, stalling to the south next weekend.”

Water Temperature is around 83*.

It’s 78* and windy and rainy at the beach. We see a high of 80* today with a chance for showers and thunderstorms today.

Sunrise is at 6:52 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:49 p.m.
