Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, Sep 7 at 8:30 a.m.
We received a few more 9’0” and 8’0” Catch Surf Logs at the shop this week, and we still have a great selection of the 7’0” boards. Come get them while we still have a few.
Waves at the mid tide are running waist to chest on the sets. Patience is everything is there is a lull between sets. The tide is dropping so the washout is starting to close out, but a few corners are to be had with some barrel sections
Winds are west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Winds look to stay fairly light today but swinging to southwest later today.
Low tide is 11:37 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:16 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 9 seconds in an increasing, long-period east/south-east swell compliments of Hurricane Earl. We should see pulses throughout the next couple of days.
Waves are fun and the wind is cooperating. Only bummer is the dropping tide. If winds cooperate it could be fun in the incoming tide. Earl was upgraded to hurricane status at the 8pm report last night. This should send some ground swell into our beaches through the end of the week. Just keep an eye on the winds. Thursday is looking like some slack winds and a decent ground swell. Might want to head to Florida or the Outer Banks for the weekend as the angle of the swell goes more north.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will sink into the area today. The front will stall to the south into the weekend while high pressure builds in from the north. Another cold front could impact the region during the early to middle of next week.”
Water Temperature is around 83*.
It’s 80* today with sun. We expect a mix of sun and clouds at the beach today. We will see a high of 86* at the beach with lots of humidity.
Sunrise is at 6:57 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:39 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
