Waves at Folly this morning are averaging knee-high It’s side-shore and semi-choppy with some slight drift from north-to-south. Doesn’t look too fun this morning.
Winds continue from the north-east at about the same clip this morning and will increase 15 to 20 knots mid-afternoon. We see a choppy, drifty surf zone this afternoon with high-angled north-east wind swell building through the weekend.
Tide is now coming in. High tide will be at 1:03 p.m., and low tide will be at 7:26 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period easterly swell, with an easterly wind swell 3.3 feet at 6 seconds.
Surf looks pretty small and choppy today with building, choppy east/north-east wind waves. High pressure sets up over our marine area today, as a frontal boundary stalls to our east. This will bring strong north-east winds and high angled, short period north-easterly conditions today through Sunday. It’ll be drifty down the beach and likely average thigh, maybe waist high through Sunday. Look for this high angled easterly swell to rotate more on-shore late Monday into Tuesday. We now have Tropical Storm Fiona in the picture, moving into the Caribbean this weekend. This should push some hurricane swell into our beaches late Wednesday into Thursday of next week. That’s the next swell to keep an eye on, so get your chores done this weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail inland while a stationary front lingers well offshore into the middle of next week.”
Water Temperature is around 83*.
It’s 70* and mostly sunny this morning. It’s beautiful with low humidity. Look for perfect beach weather, if not a little windy, with a high of 83*.
Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:24 p.m.
