Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, October 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are waist-to-stomach high. There is a bigger set, occasionally.
Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean with some nice lines to be had, and it’s not too crowded this morning.
We see winds rotate south-west this afternoon around 10 knots as a cold front moves through the area. This will put some cross on a fading easterly wind swell.
High tide will be at 11:15 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:13 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 8 seconds in an easterly wind swell.
We have a quick clean up this morning as the tide comes in, and waves look fun. This easterly wind swell should fade later this afternoon as the tide goes out with off-shore flow increasing after a cold front passage. Waves look to fall off Friday and into early next week as cooler high pressure sets up over our marine aera and offshore flow will take over our weather pattern. Expect smaller surf for most of next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will push across the region by late this evening. Surface high pressure will build back in through the weekend then another cold front is forecast to move through the region early next week.”
Water temperature is running around 71*.
It’s 69* with high clouds this morning. Look for clouds today with the sun trying to sneak out and a high of 79*.
Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:51 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
