Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are knee high.
Winds are west/north-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for north-west winds and a clean surf zone all day, with blue bird weather and small surf.
High tide will be at 11:33 a.m. and low tide will be at 5:58 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 4 seconds in a short-period north-west wind swell pushing away from the beach.
We have offshore flow increasing after a cold front passage yesterday afternoon. Waves look to fall off today and into early next week as cooler high pressure sets up over our marine aera and offshore flow will take over our weather pattern. There could be a quick shot of small, low-quality south-west wind swell Monday ahead of a stronger cold front, but it’s probably not worth mentioning. Expect smaller surf for most of next week, with some beautiful fishing weather on tap for this weekend. I’d expect the boat landings to be busy.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through the weekend. A strong cold front will push offshore Monday night, followed by cool high pressure.”
Water temperature is running around 72*.
It’s 62* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 75* and sun all day.
Sunrise is at 7:23 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:48 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
