Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, October 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high.
Winds are west/south-west at 10 knots and are on the increase. Surf zone is semi-choppy and drifty up the beach.
Look for south-west winds to increase at 15 to 20 this afternoon ahead a strong cold front moving through tonight. This builds small, low-quality south-west wind waves this afternoon. It will likely be choppy and drifty by late day.
Tide is coming in this morning. High tide will be at 2:05 p.m. and low tide will be at 8:32 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 5 seconds in a short-period south-west wind swell.
There looks to be a quick shot of small, choppy, low-quality south-west wind swell this afternoon ahead of a strong cold front, but it’s probably not worth mentioning. Expect smaller surf for most of next week, after a strong cold front passage.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A strong cold front will move through the region tonight, followed by cool high pressure into next weekend.”
Water temperature is running around 72*.
It’s a humid 72* this morning. Look for a high of 77* today and clouds mixed with sun.
Sunrise is at 7:24 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:45 p.m.
