Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, December 3 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout today are thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. The tide is going out, so it should get better early afternoon. Surf is clean but closing out some at the lower tide. Should get better on the tide push late morning.
Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf is very clean.
We see south-west winds at 5 to 10 knots, and this should cross up the surf some later today, but overall not a bad day for surfing.
Low tide is right after 10 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:15 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period south-east swell, with a south east wind swell 3.9 feet at 6 seconds.
There is some swell at the buoy, and we should have some fun waves today, if not huge. As expected, swell has rotated more on-shore as small east/south-east swell moves more into our swell-window today into Sunday when a front stalls near our marine area over the next few days. Likely nothing too big, but likely something fun to ride Saturday through Monday with more moderate winds in the forecast. So, weekend warriors suit up and catch a few. Swell will likely drop off mid-week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A front will shift into the area today, and then linger in the vicinity into early next week.”
It’s pretty warm out here this morning. It’s 60* with clouds and some sun peaking through. Look for a high of 68*8 today and sun behind some clouds.
Water temperature is around 61*.
Sunrise is at 7:05 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
