Time of Report: 8:45 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat.
Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Lots.
Dangers: Cold, but getting warmer.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 27 at 8:30 a.m.

Hope everyone had a great holiday. The New Folly Pier is now open to the public for a few weeks. Come on out and check it out.

Waves at the Washout this morning are flat-to-knee high and it’s still cold.

Winds are light and variable this morning and surf-zone is clean and cold.

Look for winds to remain light and variable throughout the day.

High tide will be at 11:04 this morning with a high tide following at 5:12 in the afternoon.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1 ft at 8 seconds in a very small medium-period south-east swell.

Our flat trend will continue through most of our work week. Thursday, we see a high pressure settle itself off the mid-Atlantic moving more offshore as a low-pressure system approaches for the weekend. This should begin some onshore flow generating some south-east swell. Look for a slow building trend beginning Friday morning peaking on Saturday. This swell will slowly fade out Sunday into the beginning of the New Year work week. Look for waist-shoulder high surf throughout that period with warmer temps arriving as well.

Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will remain the dominant feature through late week. Unsettled weather is likely over the weekend as low pressure approaches from the west.”

It’s cold. 20* this morning. Look for a high of only 48* today with sunny skies.

Water temperature went way down over the past few days. It’s 49*, and you’ll need a 4/3 booties, gloves and a hood for this weekend’s swell.

Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:21 p.m.
