Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Cars at key surf spots.
Dangers: Work.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 5 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Washout this morning are thigh-to waist high with a stomach high set this morning. It’s a little bigger, occasionally. But the tide is going out.

Winds are west at 10 knots, and surf zone is side shore, but fairly clean. Looks fun this morning. Get on it if you can.

We see west winds continue at 10 to 12 knots today, and surf should be overall clean today as leftover south wind swell begins to fade this afternoon.

Tide is going out, and low tide is at 12:55 p.m., and high tide will be at 6:52 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 6 seconds in a short period south wind swell, with a medium period south-east swell; 2.3 feet at 8 seconds.

A cold front moved off-shore overnight and we have south/south-west wind-swell cleaning up for your Thursday morning. Look for swell to begin fading out Thursday late day. Hopefully it’ll hold as the tide comes in this afternoon. Late work week and into the weekend looks small to flat as high pressure sets up over our marine area this weekend into early next week.

Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will move offshore this morning, then high pressure will prevail through the weekend. A cold front is then expected to advance through the region early next week, followed by another cold front around midweek.”

It’s a bit foggy at Folly this morning. It’s 60*. Expect clouds to move out this afternoon. We’ll see sun and a high around 65*.

Water temperature, it’s 55*.

Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
