Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, April 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf is around thigh-to-waist high with a stomach-high set this morning. Maybe a little bigger. It looks kind of fun for the high-volume board on the incoming tide this morning with a little bit of south swell in the water.

Winds are east at 5 knots, and surf zone has some bump and chop in it.

Look for winds to increase onshore from the east at 15 to 20 this afternoon, and surf should get choppier as a weak low pressure system moves into our area later today.

We are coming off a low tide this morning. We have a high tide at 2:23 p.m. and low tide will be at 8:34 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south/south-east swell.

We’re showing a little south-east  swell at the buoy today, and there are some rideable waves as the tide comes in this morning. Swell should build again late week from the south-east ahead of a low pressure system moving into our marine aera for Friday. So look for late week to produce some pre-frontal south wind waves and wind coming from the south through Saturday. This swell should begin to fade off by Sunday morning into early next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Weak low pressure will track across the Southeast U.S. today into Friday. A cold front will move through the region Sunday night, followed by high pressure through the middle of the week.”

It’s 67* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 70* today with shower starting this afternoon.

Water temperature is back down to 65* after the cold snap.

Sunrise is at 6:52 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:48 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
