SUNDAY JULY 9TH

Semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh.
Traffic: Some.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, July 8th at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the pier are around knee thigh high with a thigh high set. May get a little something on the incoming tide to give you a reason to get in the water.

Winds are west/south-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is somewhat clean with a touch of side shore to it.

Look for south-west winds at 10 knots this afternoon, adding surface chop to small surf.

We had a low tide at 7:29 a.m., and high tide will be at 1:55 p.m. Next low tide will be just before sunset at 8:01 a.m..

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 8.3 seconds in a medium period south-east swell mixed with a 2.3 ft at 5.6 seconds south/south-west wind swell.

Starting the day the surf is looking pretty small coming off the low tide. May get a little push with the incoming tide for some waves that may be best for boards with some float to them The best hope for lame summer waves is Sunday afternoon into Monday(west winds in the morning) when south-west winds pick up, but surf is looking overall anemic as far as any real groundswell. Right now, the whole week is looking like it’ll be a small south wind chop in the surf zone. Spend time with loved ones and wait for that first hurricane swell to show up in August.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A weak cold front will approach early this week and meander nearby into mid week before dissipating. An inland trough will develop later in the week as high pressure begins to build over the Atlantic.”

Water temperature is around 85*

It’s 82* this morning and sunny. Today’s high is 90* with a heat index into the 100’s. Come out and enjoy the sea breeze to cool off after a quick swim before the ocean becomes lava hot from this run of hot days.

Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
