Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 29th at 8:30 a.m. Good luck to everyone surfing the Wahine Contest this weekend!

Surf has picked up and is running stomach to chest and is a little choppy. Winds have been variable due to the storm anywhere from 3kts -10kts. Faces were looking pretty clean during the storms.

Winds are expected to be out of the south today around 15 kts and gusty

Low tide is at 11:01 a.m. The next high tide is at 5:45 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3feet at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

Waves have picked up and are pretty good so grab your board and get on it before the tide drops out. Expect choppy conditions and a possible increase in size for the next incoming tide with the strong winds. Sunday we see west winds overnight hopefully cleaning up the surf some, but with a drop in size. Also we have a low currently developing in the eastern Caribbean that models have staying on the weaker side as it moves westward towards our swell window over the weekend. I do think we will get some mild ground-swell mid week next week as a result. Also looks like some remaining moisture off the SE coast which were seeing today in fact could form into a weak low as well early next week. A bit of uncertainty but regardless I think well be surfing the next few days, just keep your expectations in check.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Low pressure will pass across the region today. A weak cold front is expected to sag into the region by early next week, and likely stall over the area through mid week. High pressure is expected to return by midweek.”

Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s 78* with on and off showers this morning. Look for a high of 83* with on and off rain showers coming from offshore.

Sunrise is at 6:29 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:22 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
