Choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh.
Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 14 at 8:30 a.m.

Congratulations to all finalist from the Governors Cup of Surfing.

Surf at Folly right now around knee-thigh at best looking pretty weak with moderate side/onshore winds.

Winds are south-west around 10-15mph creating semi-choppy surface conditions.

We just came off a high tide at 7:16 a.m. look for the tide to drain out at 1:16 p.m. with another high tide to finish our day at 7:41 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 8 seconds in medium period south-east swell.

Surf is still sticking around knee-thigh high again although winds are on it and looking not so great. This small SE swell slowly fades into Tuesday morning.  Our next hope for small choppy swell comes mid-week as south-west wind swell kicks up ahead of an approaching cold front. Right now we are stuck with high pressure and very hot weather. Tropics also look to kick up a eastern Atlantic low that moves in our favorable direction late work week and into the weekend. Models currently suggesting this low looses steam and fizzles our near Bermuda. Either way something to look at while its flat.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will build into the area this weekend. A cold front could impact the area during the middle of next week.”

Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s 80* with sun this morning. Expect sun mixed with clouds and 90* with sun and a high heat index for today.

Sunrise is at 6:40 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:08 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
