Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, September 5 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly running knee-to-thigh high with a waist set. It’s an easterly swell, so the direction is not perfect, but there is something to ride. The tourists are pretty much gone, so there’s that. Tide is pretty low, so it might get a push with the incoming tide.
Winds are west/south-west at around 10 knots, so there is some chatter in the surf zone.
Tide is coming in. High will be at 12:58 p.m. Low tide will be at 7:15 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 11 seconds from the east in a long period swell. Not the best direction for Folly Beach, but there is something to ride.
Surf again is around knee-to-thigh high. Maybe slightly bigger. There is a little longboard wave . Good news is it looks like what is now named tropical low (Invest) 95 will become Tropical Storm Lee. Lee looks to develop in the eastern Caribbean and move into our swell window in about a week. A lot can change in the next 7 days with this system but models over the last 3 days haven’t changed one bit suggesting higher confidence. Looking like significant ground-swell could be expected late this weekend into early next week. We’ll keep you posted.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will persist across the region through late week. A cold front is then expected to arrive this weekend and potentially stall near the coast into early next week.”
Water temperature is around 85*.
It’s 76 with clear skies no humidity* Look for a high of 87* with sun. It’s a nice beach day, and all the tourists are gone.
Sunrise is at 6:55 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:43 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
