Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, September 8th at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is flat to ankle

Winds are light south 5-10mph putting a little texture to the surface and that should remain for today.

Low tide was 9:25 a.m. High will be at 3:59 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.0 feet at 4 seconds in short period SW wind-swell.

Surf again is pretty flat today and remainder of our work week and early weekend. We have Hurricane Lee  now a strong Cat 5 east of the Caribbean islands. Lees current track is WNW moving right towards our window. Late weekend we should see some early pulses then look for a significant building trend through mid-late week next week, shoulder to overhead surf. Winds for our area currently forecasted to be cooperating during this event.  Meanwhile we also have Tropical Storm Margot “why is the carpet all wet TODD!?”  This system stays further east before swinging north but may send us some pulses as well mid-week next week. Lots of swell on the way. The shop is stocked and ready to get your gear before the swell hits.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will stall over the region today into the weekend. Weak high pressure will return early next week. Another front could cross the area later in the week.”

 Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s 78* with clear skies. The breeze feels fantastic. Look for a high of 88* with sun. It’s a nice beach day.

Sunrise is at 6:57 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:38 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
