Thursday December 14

Choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh-waist
Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Thursday Dec 14th at 8:45 a.m.

Water is getting cold. Come get your booties and other wetsuit accessories before the upcoming forecasted swell this weekend. We have you covered from head to toe.

Surf at Folly is thigh-waist high in drifty NE wind-swell, looking pretty soft on this mornings high tide but there is a little wave.

Currently winds are moderate/strong out of the NE at 15-25 mph.

High tide was at report time Low tide is 3:04 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is currently reading 8.5ft at 6 seconds in ENE wind-swell the brunt of which is heading past our shores.

We got a small drifty wave this morning thigh-waist high nothing great but enough to get wet. This wind-swell may begin to rotate more favorably east as winds trend NE to ENE later this week. Looking ahead our low that forms in the gulf this weekend is still on track, expect a significant building trend later Saturday through mid-day Sunday with strong ESE winds victory at sea conditions. Models have this system currently hugging the South Carolina coastline which makes timing for a cleanup hard to call, I’m currently seeing late Sunday cleanup sesh or very early Monday A.m. high pressure returns Monday afternoon. Gear up we got a significant swell on the way.

NOAA Forecast: “High pressure will extend over the area this week. A coastal low pressure system will impact the region late weekend into early next week.”

Current water temp: 60*.

It’s partly cloudy and 48* this morning. We have a high of 59*

Sunrise is 7:15 a.m., Sunset 5:10 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
