Good morning this is Luke the Kook with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Tuesday, January 2nd at 9:30 a.m.

Surf is FLAT

Currently winds are NNW at 10-15mph

We had a low tide just before sunrise this morning. Look for a high tide at Noon., Another low will then drain out just after sunset at 6:12P.M.

The Edisto buoy is currently reading 6.9ft at 7 seconds from the NNE

Surf is pretty flat Knee high slappers breaking onshore this morning. High pressure is currently dominating our area keeping the surf down through mid week. Wednesday, we see an approaching front with a weak low attached to it and brief onshore flow, I’m not to hyped on this maybe a waist high wave at best late Weds early Thursday. Then things get more interesting, Saturday a strong low looks to develop in the Northen Gulf and slides off the SE coastline producing much more significant fetch and onshore flow with longer period and larger surf expected to build through Saturday. As of now we could get a late Saturday cleanup sesh. Winds rotate offshore Saturday night and hope for some leftovers Sunday morning as the swell begins its fading trend. Another system looks to produce some significant South swell thereafter on the long range models early next week.

NOAA Forecast: “ High pressure will prevail through Wednesday morning. Low pressure will track near the region late Wednesday into early Thursday, followed by more high pressure through Friday. A storm system is expected to track across the region Saturday, before high pressure returns again early next week.”

Current water temp: 58*.

It’s sunny and COLD! 45* this morning with a high of 53* for today

Sunrise is 7:10 a.m., Sunset 5:13 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
