Semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8:15 a.m.
Wave Forecast: stomach-chest. A bit bigger, occasionally.
Traffic: None
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: Windy, drifty conditions.

Good morning this is Evan with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Tuesday, February 13 at 8:15 a.m.

Washout surf is semi-clean this morning and running around stomach-chest high. Maybe a slightly larger set. There are definitely waves to surf with the high tide, but it’s textured and somewhat clean faces for sure. Few surfers sending it this morning, and it could be fun if it doesn’t blow out before it cleans up.

Winds are strong, early.

We expect winds out of the West at 20-25 knots with gusts of up to 35 knots. This afternoon winds taper down to 10-15 knots out of the Northwest through our area.

We have a high tide at 10:27 a.m. Low tide will be at 4:30 p.m., and your next high tide will be at 10:49 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 10.8 feet at 7.7 seconds in a medium period south-west wind swell.  Has size pushing against the forecasted offshore winds.

Today sees strong, side-shore, westerly winds in the morning and a chewed-up surf zone before winds switch for the afternoon(keep an eye on the flags, and try to feel the humidity drop) and clean up the surf (HOPEFULLY). Mid-to-late week, look for smaller surf as high pressure sets up over our marine area. This trend lasts through Friday.

Water temp is around 59*.

The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “A high pressure will build into the region today and prevail into the latter part of the week. A cold front will move through early in the weekend, followed by high pressure early next week.”

It’s 56* but feels like 48 and windy. Look for a high of 62* today with wind and sunshine. Gale force winds in play this morning, so any brave surfers be careful upon sending it.

Sunrise is 7:04 a.m., Sunset 6:03 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
