Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Friday, February 16, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.

Our 4/3 wetsuits are on sale. It’s still 4/3 weather, and you’ll need one when it gets cold next year, and we still have a good selection of O’Neill Technobutter 4/3 suits in the shop. Come check them out.

Surf is pretty much flat to knee high out here at Folly up and down the beach. Maybe it’ll get a little push with the tide, but it’s not great.

Winds are north/north-east are right now at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is clean. Look for light winds from the south today at 5 to 10 knots, and it should be a great day at the beach, just no surf.

We just had a low tide, and we have a high tide at 1:09 p.m. The next low tide is at 7:10 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 3 foot at 5 seconds in a short-period south/south-west wind swell.

Look for smaller surf once again today. We see increasing westerly winds ahead of an approaching cold front on Saturday, and this will chop up the surf-zone as side-shore winds increase 15-to-20 knots up the beach before winds go off-shore from the north-west after the cold front passage. It’s not looking like the surf will build much over the weekend. Best chance might be Monday afternoon into Tuesday as high pressure sets up just to our north and low pressure to our south. This should bring some on-shore flow from the east/north-east. Hopefully some surf sneaks into our beaches without too      much north-east angle in it. Florida might be the call once again early/middle of next week, but there could be some wind down there, too.

Water temp is around 59*.

The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “A cold front will move through Saturday, then high pressure will build in through much of next week.”

It’s 53* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 60* and clouds this afternoon.

Sunrise is 7:02 a.m., Sunset 6:04 p.m.
