Clean and weak.

Time of Report: 8:45 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee.
Traffic: Not bad.
Parking: Yes.
Dangers: Not really.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Monday, February 19 at 8:45  a.m.

Our 4/3 wetsuits are on sale. It’s still 4/3 weather, and you’ll need one when it gets cold next year, and we still have a good selection of O’Neill Technobutter 4/3 suits in the shop. Come check them out.

Waves are pretty weak this morning. Not much for surf, so don’t feel bad about sitting in the carpool line and going to work. And if you’re a James Island High School Trojan study hard, and dream of warmer, better surf.

Surf at the Pier is about knee-high.

Winds are north at 5 knots this morning. Surf zone is as clean as your grandpa after a colonoscopy. Winds will switch out of the north-east through the day at 10 to 12 knots, and surf should be semi-choppy this afternoon.

Low tide is 10:15 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:16 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 4 seconds in a short period north-east wind swell likely headed to Rincon Puerto Rico, if we had to guess. Florida might be getting some swell, too.

Not much out there today. We see north to north-east wind swell this week, most of which will head past our beaches to Florida for the majority of the work week, but maybe a longboard wave will sneak through. Winds go south-west Thursday into Friday ahead of a frontal boundary, pushing up south-west winds and short-period, south-west wind swell for late week of the choppy variety, but there could be some size. Hopefully this swell will clean up before it gets dark on Friday, but it’ll drop fast after the frontal passage. High pressure sets up next weekend, and we’ll see smaller surf.

Water temp is around 55*.

The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Thursday, then a cold front will sweep through Friday morning. High pressure will then rebuild.”

It’s 44* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 55* and cloudy with the sun trying to come out, but mostly cloudy today.

Sunrise is 6:58 a.m., Sunset 6:08 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
