Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Thursday, May 2 at 8:30 a.m.

We have lots of new boards on the floor, including Epoxy Pyzel Gremlins and the new Precious model. Also, classic WRV longboads including the Shuffleboard and Model 67 Classic. Local boy Tim Jump from Secula dropped of a few stunners as well, come check them out!

Surf is looking around knee to maybe a thigh high set on the incoming tide at the Pier. There are a few rides to be had. It’s small, but a few guys are trying their luck on this beautiful morning.

Winds are currently light and from the north/north-east.

Look for winds from the south-east at 10 knots this afternoon, and we see a slight surface chop on the waves later today.

We just came off a low tide at 9:22 A.M., a high is tide approaching at 3 p.m. with the tide dropping out to low at 9:40 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2 feet at 10 seconds in medium period east/south-east swell.

We’ve got high pressure in control of our weather, and it looks like summer is setting in early, with high temperatures and moderate winds. This also means smaller surf for our immediate forecast. Time to break out the caned beer, cooler, get everyone in a bathing suit and wash the pollen off the Bayliner. Or the HellsBay flats boat – for those who have the means (we know, those guys don’t get pollen on their boats and have already been fishing for two months). Either way, small surf on the horizon through Saturday, but look for longboard style tradewind swell to pick up waist high Sunday into Monday as moderate winds trend on-shore for Sunday and Monday as high pressure slides to our east. This should push up a small, fun little swell for the high-volume sticks  late in the weekend and early into your work week.

our National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will remain across the Southeast through much of next week.”

Water temperature is hovering right around 73*, so spring suits and jackets are the call for mornings and evenings.

It’s a currently 69* sunny mixed with clouds and breezy. Today will be partly cloudy with a high of 78* .

Sunrise 6:30 a.m., Sunset 8:03 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf, check back tomorrow.
