Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast at 8:30 a.m. for Sunday, November 3.
Set your clocks back an hour, ‘ya pelicans!
Surf at The Pier is waist-to-stomach high and very drifty and blown out. Looks like you get to rest your weary arms after a few days of solid Tradewind swell last week.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 knots. North-east winds increase today at 15 to 20 – side-shore – and surf stays much the same today (read, blown out) as we see another significant easterly swell begin to build for the middle of this week.
We are coming off a high tide at 8:30 a.m. Low tide will be at 2:51 p.m. Next high tide is at 8:40 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 5.6 feet at 7 seconds in a short period north/north-east wind swell, and this is blowing south. There’s a lot of wind swell out there, just has a bad angle for our surf.
There is still surf in the water but swell is going to have a high north angle on it early in the work week. Midweek, we see less wind and more onshore flow from the east/south-east as high pressure sets up to our north and a series of low-pressure systems float to our south. One Tropical Invest to our south in particular late week could increase surf for the weekend. Look for mid-week again to enjoy less wind. The first half of the week will be windy but likely have plenty of size Tuesday and into mid-week. Strong winds will be the fly in the soup on and off this week. We’ve just come off a stellar run of fall surf, and more to come. So, waves all week of varying quality. What are you going to do? We already know.
Our guys over at NOAA predict that “A cold front will continue to move south through the region today. High pressure will then return through the middle of the week. Another cold front could approach by the end of the week.”
Water temp is 70*
It’s 65* and cloudy, with a slight chance for a shower. It’ll be cloud all day with a high of around 70*, so not beautiful beach weather, but it’s not 100*, either.
Sunrise was at 7:37 a.m. and Sunset will be at 6:28 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
