Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 31 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out our Labor Day sale today and tomorrow with 20% off summer apparel, and other goodies.
Surf this morning is thigh to waist with an occasional stomach high set in a drifty, choppy east/north-east wind swell. Lots of current running down the beach. It looks fun if you want to put in the work, and we have faith in you because you’re tough and looooove to paddle.
Winds are north/north-east at a good clip this morning. It’s blowing around 15-18 knots consistently and should gust to 25-30 knots today. It’s making the beach nice and cool.
We are coming off a low tide this morning, and high tide will be at 2:3 p.m. The next low tide is at 8:48 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is showing medium period swell from the south-east 2.6 ft. at 8 sseconds; with a dominant short period east/north-east wind swell 5 feet at 5 seconds.
We have building north-east wind swell in the water this morning, and this should increase today with the winds picking up. This trend continues into your Labor Day holiday with surf building from the east/northeast as a lingering front hangs out just east of our marine area.
Our friends at NOAA predict: “High pressure will extend across the area through mid-week while a stationary front lingers just off the coast. A cold front will move through Thursday night or Friday.”
Water temperature is around 82*.
It’s cool at the beach this morning. It’s 74* with high clouds and sun mixed. Look for clouds this afternoon with a 40% chance for a shower and lots of wind. High is 81* today.
Sunrise was 6:54 a.m., Sunset 7:45 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
