Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, Dec. 18 at 8:30 a.m.
Congrats to Andy Manzi and the Warrior Surf Foundation on the organization’s appearance on CNN’s “Heros” award show last night. It’s an honor to have such a fine organization representing the Folly Beach surfing community and such a noble cause.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee high. Maybe slightly bigger.
Winds are west/north-west at 2 knots.
We see light and variable winds today, and surf zone will be relatively clean.
We are just coming off a high tide, and low tide will be at 1:54 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:49 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 5 sec. in short period south/south-west wind swell and small south-east swell.
Very small clean surf for today, and we have weak winds and weather to start the work week. Surf looks to remain small into mid-week, when we could have a quick shot of pre-frontal south-west wind swell cleaning up Thursday morning and dropping into Thursday afternoon. A cold front moves through, and we could see small north-east wind waves average waist high later in the week. Not much in the forecast, but perhaps some hope for Thursday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will linger over the area through Tuesday. Low pressure will pass over or north of the region late Wednesday, followed by inland high pressure Thursday into Friday. The high will shift offshore next weekend and then a cold front will slowly approach from the west.”
It’s a warm 62* with clouds this morning. Look for cloudy skies today and a high of 66*. There is a 30% chance for a thunderstorm.
Water temperature keeps going down with these cold temperatures, and is now 53*.
Sunset is at 5:15 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:16 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
