Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for The 4th of July 2023. Come on out and join the circus.
The 8 a.m. traffic report. Flowing Ok, but slows down around the entrance to the TruLuck Island turn off (almost to Crosbys Seafood).
Surf at the Pier this morning is running flat. Better day for the grilling and chilling. ‘Merica.
Winds are moderate out of the west/south-west at 8 to 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, but fairly clean.
Look for south winds to increase at 15 to 20 as storms move in this afternoon.
We have a high tide at 9 a.m., low tide follows at 3:07 p.m. high tide will fill in at 9:47 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 feet at 7 seconds in medium period southeast ground swell. With a south-west wind swell 1.3 feet at 4 seconds.
Surf is starting to drop off as high pressure moves out to sea, and with it, the small trade wind swell we’ve been seeing over the past several days. Looking ahead, we see a series of upper-level disturbances kick up typical summer-small, short-period south/south-west wind swell, with storms once again predicted for our area, and muggy weather conditions. Look for groundswell to increase late week into the weekend as a low could possibly form off of a stalled frontal boundary late week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A series of upper-level disturbances will bring unsettled weather through the week. A cold front could approach the region this weekend.”
Water temperature is around 80*
Its 84* with plenty of sunshine this morning. It’s humid. Temps will eventually climb to a high of 88* with storms this afternoon.
Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
