Dangers: 4th of July

Good morning, this is  Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 4 at 8:30 a.m. Happy 4th Of July!

Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council on Monday. You must wear a mask in Ocean Surf Shop. Thank you for your cooperation, and for supporting our small, local business.

Surf at Folly is showing knee high peelers and clean conditions.

Winds are light from the west, and surf-zone is clean.

Winds should switch south today at 5 to 10 knots. Surface texture and a bit of chop more noticeable in the afternoon hours.

We have a high tide at report time. Low tide follows arriving at 1:48pm. Another high tide at sunset this evening 8:31pm.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 ft. at 8 seconds in ESE swell.

This morning 4th of July looking small and weak at first light but enough to push the logs on this beautiful morning. Looking ahead small typical summer conditions prevail the remainder of the holiday weekend and beginning of next work week. Good news is Mid-week we should begin to see signs of life in fresh south local wind-swell build into the waist to belly high range by days end. This swell looks to keep its building trend through Friday. We will keep you in the loop.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will linger south of the area this weekend, before lifting back north early next week. Low pressure will then bring unsettled weather to the region for much of next week.”

It’s 81* and Sunny this morning. Look for a hot, humid day with a  high of 90*.

Water temperature is way up to 83*.

Sunrise is at 6:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
