Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Chest/Head. Bigger. Going off, early.

Dangers: Other surfers

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, September 13 at 8:30 a.m.

We also have wet-suit jackets and spring suits in stock. You’ll need it late week when the Lee swell starts to get big.

Surf at the northside of the pier is running stomach to chest high to overhead on the sets. It’s clean and closing out, but some open shoulders are looking good. Low tide could knock it down a little.

Winds are light and variable this morning, and surf zone is clean, but there are some rip-currents with the big ground swell.

We see southeast winds at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon, and this should add surface chop to building ground swell late day.

Tide is going out, and low tide is at 1:24 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:44 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.9 feet at 12 seconds in a long period east/south east swell compliments of hurricane Lee.

Hurricane Lee which is now well north of the Puerto Rico, and should travel north through our swell window through Thursday, and into Friday. Surf should gradually build throughout mid-late week. Look for Lee swell to peak Wednesday into Thursday with shoulder high to overhead groundswell to be expected. Early-to-mid week wind forecast looks favorable. Thursday and Friday, we will see increased north/north-east winds behind a cold front, so hopefully the strong winds won’t affect it too much, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Lots of swell on the way. Even long-range models over 240 hours are beginning to hint at another Hurricane entering our window next week. The shop is stocked and ready to get your gear before the swell hits. Know your limits, and surf s
