Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 23 at 9:00 a.m.
New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.
Mandatory mask ordinance is in effect for Folly.
Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high and weak overall. Enough to push the logs but its down a bit from yesterday.
Winds are light offshore and its clean early.
Look for winds to shift east 10mph and overall shouldn’t hurt to bad today.
We have a high tide at 12:13 a.m., and a low tide will be at 6:14 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium-period, south-easterly swell.
There is a small wave out here this morning for the longboard a bit less energy than yesterday. Tropical Storm Laura Shes churning in the central Caribbean and as a result expect stronger SE swell to arrive Monday into mid-week. Unfortunately shes tracking a bit more south then previously forecasted. Swell should peak on Tuesday in the waist to chest high range. This swell fades Weds although surf should remain rideable the remainder of the work week as south wind-swell should keep a small wave for us. Either way were surfing the next several days!
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will expand across the eastern United States through the middle of the week, then weaken and move away towards the end of the week.”
It’s 74* with clouds and showers passing through. Look for a high of 85 with a 40% chance of rain this afternoon.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunrise is at 6:47 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:56 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
