Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 8th at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout is ankle to knee high. It is closing out on the beach as the tide drops.
Winds are light out of the WSW, and surf is mostly clean.
We see SW winds today up to 15 knots this afternoon making the surf more textured later on.
Low tide is at 11:28 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:55 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 4 seconds in a small, short period WSW combo.
Look for knee high surf later this afternoon at incoming tide. The wind could chop up the surf a little bit later, but there still could be something early evening on a longboard. Expect smaller surf late week as Atlantic high-pressure slides west and a cold front stalls off the coast. Small, summertime surf is expected for the remainder of the week with pockets of offshore wind and mostly light wind expected all week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure centered over the Atlantic and an inland surface trough will persist through mid week. A cold front will stall and deteriorate northwest of the region late this week. Weak low pressure will develop over the Mid-Atlantic this weekend, prevailing into early next.
It’s 81* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 90* with partly cloudy skies today.
Water temperature is 84*.
Sunset is at 8:12 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:36 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
