Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 9 at 7:30 a.m.

It’s Tax Free Weekend in South Carolina. Who remembered that? Come on by and save some money on shoes and apparel this weekend.

We Have a few new Torq longboards and fun-boards that just arrived. Get them while we still have a few in stock.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.  Construction taking place to build sea-wall at The Washout, too.

Surf at Folly this morning is flat to ankle high. Looking pretty weak overall.

Winds are light and variable with high clouds off-shore. Surf is clean this morning.

Look for winds from the south this afternoon at 5 to 10 knots adding a little more texture later today.

Low tide was at 6:14 a.m. High tide will be at 12:31 p.m., and low tide will be at 6:31 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is only reading 1.6 feet at 3 seconds in short period swell.

We see small surf through the weekend, with mainly small southerly wind-swell in the forecast over the next several days. A SMALL trade swell could produce a thigh high wave mid-late week. There is a train of tropical waves coming across Africa this week. We’ll see if any develop, but until then, grab the long-board and enjoy some small, summer-style waves.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “The region will remain positioned between Atlantic high pressure centered offshore, and an inland area of broad low pressure.”

It’s 79* with sun, this morning.  Look for a high of 89* and a slight chance for a thunderstorm with hot sun today.

Water temperature is up to 87*.

Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:09 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
