Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Christmas Day, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.

We hope everyone has a great holiday season. We are closed today, we’ll be open again at 10 a.m. on Thursday Dec. 26.

Surf at Folly this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. Surf is soft at the morning’s high tide.

Winds are north/north-east – side-shore – at 15 knots, and surf is semi-clean and still drifty down the beach from north-to-south.

Look for winds to rotate north today and drop off a bit this afternoon around 10 to 12 knots. Surf should be side-shore and semi-clean with some drift all day.

We had a high tide at day-break, We have a low tide at 1:09 p.m. and high tide will follow at 7:06 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.6 ft. at 10 seconds in an easterly ground swell. We have an east/north-easterly wind swell 6.5 ft. at 7 seconds.

Look for side-shore, semi-clean, drifty surf today averaging waist-to-stomach high as the low pressure that’s kicked up all of this swell moves to our south and east with prevailing northerly winds for your Christmas Day. Looking to late work week high pressure pushes offshore and could see a smaller trade swell with cleaner, warmer conditions. Thursday and Friday might end up being a smaller, but more manageable day with nice weather. We see another front approaching our waters late in the weekend, pushing in another big pre-frontal south wind swell on Sunday. Either way tons of surf this entire week of Christmas, just keep your eyes on winds.

It’s cold this morning. It’s 47* with clouds. Look for a high of 60* with sun today.

Water temperature is around 55*. You’ll be most comfortable in a 4/3, booties, gloves and a hood.

Sunrise is at 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:19 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
