Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, December 24 – Christmas Eve – at 8:30 a.m.

We will close at 2 p.m. today for Christmas Eve and be closed on Christmas Day. We will resume normal winter hours – from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – on December 26.

Hope everyone has a great holiday season. We’ll skip the surf report on Christmas Day, because it’s just going to be flat and cold.

Waves at the Washout this morning are flat-to-knee high and cooooolllldddd.  It’s 20* and mostly cloudy out at The Washout this morning, and the wind chill makes it feel even colder.

Winds are west at 10 to 15, and surf zone is semi-clean.

Look for westerly winds to average 15 to 20 today.

Tide just started going out. Low tide today is at 2:35. a.m., with high tide to follow at 8:28 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 7 feet at 11 seconds in a westerly swell, so needless to say, that swell is heading away from our beaches.

A strong Artic cold front passed our beaches overnight, and we expect cold, small surf through Tuesday of your holiday work week. The weekend looks very cold and very flat, with strong westerly winds predicted through early next week. High pressure sets up off the mid-Atlantic late in the work week, and we expect warmer temperatures. This will increase southerly flow Thursday into Friday, so we can expect some fun trade-wind-style swell late in the work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Arctic high pressure will remain the dominant feature through the middle of next week. Then, high pressure is expected to build over the Atlantic, bringing a warming trend for later next week.”

It’s cold. 20* this morning. Look for a high of only 32* today with some sun trying top come out this afternoon.

Water temperature is now 53* and will go down after this weekend’s cold snap. Brrrr

Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:19 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
