Clean for morning. Choppy for afternoon.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh. Waist. Good log wave.
Traffic: Some.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: No-seeums are brutal right now.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast  Sunday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m.

We want to wish everyone a happy Easter. We will be open for regular business hours today.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high. There is a waist high set. Some fun logging going on at Folly this morning.

Winds are north-west at 5 knots. The surf zone is clean with some nice lines.

Look for winds from the north-west this morning, going north-east late morning. Winds switch easterly at 15 knots this afternoon, as surf gets progressively choppier later today.

We have a high tide at 8:53 a.m., and a low tide will be at 2:57 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:23 pm.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.

There is a nice long-board wave this morning. It’ll be choppy for afternoon, when you might just want to go hunt for Easter eggs. We do expect a building, high-angled easterly swell (no pun intended) to start building Monday into Tuesday. This swell should come more onshore into the middle of next week, with more favorable winds and some trade wind swell Wednesday through Saturday as high pressure sets up off the mid-Atlantic. This should push up some fun surf. Nothing too big, but likely surf on the radar for mid-week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A series of upper disturbances will affect the area tonight through Monday. High pressure will then build into the area for much of this week.”

It’s currently 68* and cloudy. Look for a high of 72* and sun mixed with clouds. There is a chance for a shower.

Water Temperature is around 68*.

Sunrise is at 6:47 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:51 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
