Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, December 29 at 8:30 a.m.
All shoes and apparel are marked down 20-40% so come do some shopping with us and stock up on neoprene while you’re here, because it is COLD!
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee to thigh high. Surf is closing out at the morning’s low tide.
It should push a waist high set and get better form as the tide comes in this afternoon.
Winds are north/north-west at 10 knots, and surf is clean.
Look for north winds at 10 knots today, and surf should remain clean.
Low tide is at 10:14 a.m. and high tide will be at 4:14 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 6.6 ft. at 7 sec. in high angled north-east wind swell and easterly swell at 3.3 ft. at 9 sec.
We see a thigh to waist high wave on the incoming tide today. Look for overall clean and very cold conditions. This trend fades overnight as winds become north-west and a low pressure moves north-east – away from our coast – tonight and out of our swell window. Surf looks to be knee to thigh high for your Saturday with clean conditions. We see cold, high-angled, choppy north-east wind swell for your Sunday. High-angled north swell continues for the first week in January. Central and south Florida is probably your best bet for your New Year if you want to catch a college bowl game and get some surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will track off the Carolina coast this morning. A dry air mass is expected to build across the region today and remain through Saturday. A cold front will move through the area Sunday followed by cold high pressure for much of next week.”
It is 32* with freezing rain and ice on the bridges this morning. Look for temperatures to warm this afternoon with a high of 48* and mostly cloudy skies with some sun late day.
Water temperature is back down to 53*.
Sunset is at 5:21 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:21 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
