glassy

Time of Report: 8:30 AM
Wave Forecast: knee to thigh
Traffic: none
Parking: restricted at the washout
Dangers: debris from Tropical Storm Irma

Good Morning. This is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Sept. 15 at 8:30 a.m.

Parking is restricted at The Washout this morning. Crews are cleaning up the roadway from debris from the recent storm.

Surf at the Washout this morning is knee to thigh high with an occasional waist high set at the morning’s low tide. It is glassy.

Look for surf to build mid-morning into the stomach high range as the tide comes in.

Low tide is at 10:10 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:43 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:59 p.m.

Tide will be pretty high again today, so low-to-mid tide will have the most punch.

Winds are light and NNW at 5 to 8 knots, and expected to go SSE at 5 to 10 this afternoon adding some bump to the swell.

Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 11 seconds in medium period easterly swell. Still some small swell at the buoy, and we should have some swell for the fish or the longboard all day.

Hurricane Jose continues to meander in our swell window later this week and begins to send in another strong ground swell Late Friday into the weekend. Jose gets pushed to our north and out of our swell window late in the weekend, but another hurricane swell is in the forecast Saturday and Sunday with locally moderate winds. We have waves in the forecast all week of some description, so go surf.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure is expected to linger over the eastern United States through the middle of next week. Hurricane Jose is expected to meander over the Atlantic, remaining northeast of the area.” It’s 76* with sun and passing clouds this morning. Look for sun today mixed with some passing clouds and a high of 88*. There is a 30% chance of a thunderstorm.  Water temperature is around 77*.

Sunset is at 7:28 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:01 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
