Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, April 1 at 8:30 a.m.
It’s April Fools Day, and you’d be a fool not to be surfing this morning, as the surf is looking super fun early. There’s a lot of fools in the surf, that’s for sure. Probably the whole of Charleston County. That ain’t no joke.
Waves at The Washout are waist-to-chest high with a bigger set.
Winds are west/north-west, and surf is clean with some nice lines. It’s a little soft at the high tide, but it should get better form as the tide rolls out some.
Look for increasing north-west winds this afternoon. We see a clean surf zone all day as surf sheds some size later today.
We have a high tide at 8:53 a.m., a low tide at 2:50 p.m., and another high tide at 9:07 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south swell. With a south/south-west short period wind swell reading 5.6 feet at 6 seconds.
There is plenty of swell at the buoy, and some fun looking waves through early afternoon.Today sees a clean-up session as winds gradually clock off-shore by Friday afternoon. Surf will start to shed some size this afternoon with strong north-westerly winds. The front should stall off-shore for the weekend, keeping some small longboard-style surf in the forecast Saturday. We see strong to moderate east winds Saturday morning, so it likely won’t be too clean. Surf looks to fall off some for Sunday. We see another pre-frontal south wind swell on Tuesday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will push offshore this morning, followed by high pressure through early next week. Unsettled weather will return towards the middle of next week.”
It’s currently 62* and sunny. Look for a high of 73* and sun today. We have really nice spring beach weather.
Water Temperature is around 64*.
Sunrise is at 7:09 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:39 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
