Semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Thigh-to-waist. Stomach set.
Traffic: Moderate
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: Sunny, Last weekend of Spring Break

Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, April 14 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf is around thigh-to-waist high with a stomach-high set this morning. Maybe a little bigger. It looks kind of fun this morning with a little bit of south swell in the water.   Tide is about to flip towards high tide so if the wind stays down it could be fun for a few hours before getting bumpy.

Winds are south at 5 knots, and surf zone has some bump and chop in it, but the faces are fairly clean.

Look for winds to increase onshore from the east at 10 to 15 this afternoon, and surf should get choppier as south winds continue into the night going southwest.

We have a low tide at 9:36 a.m. and high tide will be at 3:35 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.9 feet at 7.7 seconds in a medium period south/south-east swell.

We’re showing a little south-east  swell at the buoy today, and there are some rideable waves as the tide comes in this morning. Saturday should have a little surf again in the morning so keep an eye on it. This swell should begin to fade off by Sunday morning into early next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Weak low pressure will track across the Southeast U.S. today into Friday. A cold front will move through the region Sunday night, followed by high pressure through the middle of the week.”

It’s 69* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 72* today with clear skies.

Water temperature is back down to 65* after the cold snap.

Sunrise is at 6:51 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:48 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
