Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, April 23 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a shipment of men’s Billabong 2 MM short-sleeve full suits for the spring session. Come get them while we still have some in stock.
Surf at The Washout this morning is pretty much flat. Maybe shin to knee high. It is weak and glassy, potentially rideable for a log if you feel like getting wet today.
Winds are west, north-west at 3-5 knots behind a cold front passage yesterday and the day prior.
Look for winds to shift south, south-west at 5-10 knots this afternoon, then go south, south-east late day at 5 knots.
Low tide is at 11:31 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:47p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 1.2 ft at 10 seconds in a long-period south-east ground swell passing by our beaches, with a slight secondary wind swell.
Waves are pretty weak and small today, despite its glassy demeanor. A Low pressure moves into our marine area and offshore on Saturday, we see surf pick up Saturday in a windy south wind swell. Winds go north-west for Sunday, and hopefully will clean up Saturday’s south wind swell. Sunday might look like the call for some cleaner, fun surf.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will move off the coast today. Low pressure across the Deep South will develop a warm front across South Carolina Saturday, bringing showers, thunderstorms, wind, and rough seas that may last into early Sunday. High pressure will slowly cross the region late Sunday through Tuesday.”
It’s a cool 55* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 66* and sun this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 69*.
Sunrise is at 6:40 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:56 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
