Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, April 29 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are flat-to-knee high and weak.

Winds are east/south-east around 5 knots and surf is bumpy.

Look for south-east winds at 10 knots this morning, increasing 15 knots this afternoon. We see a semi-choppy surf zone on the evening’s high tide.

We just had a high tide, and low tide will be at 1:38 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 12 seconds in an east/south-east swell.  Not much showing here at the beach.

Bring the longboard if you want to get wet this morning. Certianly nothing to write home about. We will likely see a continued small south wind swell/ground swell for Saturday into Sunday averaging knee-to-thigh high (plus/minus). There should be lazy, small trade-wind swell for next week as high pressure sets up just to our north. Nothing too big, but perhaps some longboard surf and nice weather.  A cold front approaches late in the work week and surf should increase late Thursday into Friday in a choppy south-west wind wave.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will generally prevail into early next week. A cold front could approach the region mid to late next week.”

It’s 68* with sun this morning. Look for the perfect beach day with a high of 73* and sun.

Water Temperature is around 72*.

Sunrise is at 6:34 a.m., and sunset will be at 8 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
