Friday, April 4th

Fairly Clean. Semi-Choppy this afternoon.

Time of Report: 8:15 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh-waist+
Traffic: Not bad.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: Spring Break Weekend

Good morning, this is Chachismo with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, April 4th at 8:15am.

Winds are light out of the south, forecasted to pick up 10-15mph later today and gusty.

Waves are running thigh to waist high at the pier and fairly clean with the light winds. Some lefts are lining up. If you have the time might be worth getting in a few. Starting to shed the neoprene. We have tops and spring suits in the shop if you are ready to put that full suit away for the summer.

We are coming off a low tide at 7:45 am. Hight tide will be 1:53 pm with the net low tide at 7:48pm as the sun sets.

Edisto buoy is currently reading 4.3 ft at 8 seconds in a medium period swell from the southeast.

Surfs still showing waist high or so should improve as the tide fills in later today. Winds will pick up throughout the day so the morning is definitely your best chance for some decent surf. High pressure keeping offshore keeping a trade swell alive for us. Moving forward a slow moving front eventually moves eastward towards our general direction and SSW wind-swell should build in towards the middle weekend. Winds will be onshore but we will have plenty of surf. Could get used to this.

Should see continued surf into the weekend.

Our friends from NOAA predict, “Strong high pressure centered over the Atlantic will prevail into this weekend. A cold front will push offshore Monday with high pressure prevailing for much of next week.”

The water temperature is around 65* and should warm up into the low 70s later today.

It’s currently 67* with a high of about 72* with passing clouds throughout the day.

Sunrise was at 7:03am and sunset will be at 7:42pm.

Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
