Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, April 8 at 8:30 a.m.
We have a ton of new spring merchandise in the shop. Come check it out.
Waves at the Washout are knee-to-thigh high. Maybe slightly bigger. Wind is pushing against the swell, and it’s picking up.
Winds are west at 5 to 10 knots. Surf-zone is clean.
Look for winds at 15 knots from the west. We see gusts to 20 knots later this morning. It’s side/off-shore by early afternoojn. Look for a semi-clean, blown down surf zone later today.
We are coming off a low tide. High tide will be at 1:50 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:36 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south swell, with a short period south/south-west wind swell 4 feet at 5.5 seconds.
We see fading surf as the tide goes out. High pressure sets up offshore today, bringing us beautiful, cool weather and smaller surf though early next week. The next significant swell will likely arrive around Thursday when another front approaches and pushes in a south swell late next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will push offshore tonight. Drier and cooler weather will persist into the weekend. High pressure will then bring warmer temperatures into the middle of next week.”
It’s currently 58 with high clouds at the beach. Look for a windy day with some clouds and a high of 68*. There is a small craft advisory in effect.
Water Temperature is around 67*.
Sunrise is at 76:58 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:44 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
