Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, August 27 at 8:30 a.m.

We received a 10-board shipment of Solid Surfboards. Mostly long-boards and mid-lengths. They look beautiful. Come check them out.

Surf at the Washout is waist-to-chest high with a shoulder set and choppy. There’s an east wind on it at about 10 to 15 knots.

Definitely some punchy surf out here today, but not great form.

Winds are predicted to continue east this morning, rotating more onshore this afternoon and going south-east 15 to 20 later today.  We see a choppy surf zone all day.

High tide is at 12:04 p.m., and low tide will be at 6:15 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3ft. at 7 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.

Surf has picked up overnight, and there are some chunky, choppy waves this morning averaging stomach high, with a bigger set as the tide comes in. Surf looks to remain basically the same all day, and into Saturday morning. Surf continues on the incoming tide Saturday morning, albeit a bit smaller. Look for surf to fade out some on Sunday and into the coming work week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will gradually build towards the area and prevail into early next week. A cold front will then approach the region by the middle of next week.”

It’s 82* this morning and partly cloudy. Look for a high of 86* and sun with a slight chance for a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:51 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:50 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
